Director: Christy Vandeberg
I graduated from Central Washington University in 1992 with a Bachelors Degree, K-8 Elementary Education with a Reading Minor. I worked in the Medford School District for two years teaching third grade before meeting my husband and getting married in 1994. I did a long-term sub in Sublimity, Oregon outside of Salem for three months teaching in a second grade classroom and then subbed for the rest of that school year. I continued teaching fourth grade for two years and a 1st/2nd blend for one year in Harrisburg, Oregon. Our extended family moved to Idaho in 1998 and so we decided to follow. I taught third grade at Fruitland Elementary for five years before coming the Student Achievement Specialist here for the last 12 years. I went back to school and received my Gifted & Talented Endorsement to teach gifted education at this time. I have two boys, and I have been happily married for the last 22 years. I have truly enjoyed the community and can’t think of being anywhere else.

I was born in Pasadena, Texas and grew up in Caldwell, Idaho. After graduation I attended the University of Idaho and Towson State University in Maryland. I hold my Bachelors degree in Communication with a minor in dance. I also hold my K-8 teaching certificate. Teaching my own children was a challenging yet rewarding experience that sparked my interest in teaching as a profession. I have taught Gifted & Talented classes, Math, Reading, English, fine Arts, and an Intro to conversational French. I have worked as a para in 4-7th grade, and in the Fruitland District for 7 years. My husband Mark and I have 5 graduates of the Fruitland School District, 4 boys and 1 girl. We are also proud grandparents to 6 with one on the way! I enjoy reading, dancing, scuba diving, kids & cows. We have 3 dogs a cat and 500 cows. My goal for this year is to make a positive difference in at least one person’s life. Some fun class traditions are recycling parties. I am looking forward to all that the future holds!
