What Is Bal-A-Vis-X?

Bal-A-Vis-X

is a series of Balance/Auditory/Vision/eXercies,

of varied complexity, all of which are deeply rooted in rhythm

Exercises are done with sand-filled bags and racquetballs, sometimes while standing on a balance board.

Bal-A-Vis-X enables the whole mind-body system to experience the natural symmetrical flow of a pendulum.

Bal-A-Vis-X requires focused attention, demands cooperation, promotes self-challenge, and fosters peer teaching. It is school friendly and just plain fun.

Bal-A-Vis-X was developed by Bill Hubert. He worked as a first grade teacher, middle school teacher, and martial art instructor. Mr. Hubert has conducted over 400 trainings with 11,000 adults. He has written a book about her experience and how Bal-A-Vis-X came to be called "Resonance." In his book Mr. Hubert explains that Bal-A-Vis-X wasn't born through a "eureka" moment, but developed over a long process of connecting dots.

  • Each year many of his first grade student didn't function well.

  • His martial arts experience enabled him to watch these 6-7 year olds though the twin lenses of balance and rhythm.

  • He felt it important that all these students have fundamental balance and rhythm capabilities so he taught them basic physical skills like throwing, catching, walking on balance beams, skipping, and so on.

  • Slowly he became aware that, of all his students, the ones most deficient in these basic physical skills often were the same ones who struggled most academically,

  • He noticed, as they all worked on balance and rhythm, that now and then when a struggling student's balance and rhythm improved his/her academic performance also improved.

Connecting these dots, then, posted this question: might fine tuning a Child's balance and rhythm simultaneously address his/her academic difficulties? What followed was more than 20 years of trial and error to find out. The result is the still-evolving program now known as Bal-A-Vis-X.

Bal-A-Vis-X is for nearly every student. It has been used with students who are labeled learning disabled, behaviorally disordered, ADD/ADHD, and gifted. It has been used with students whose auditory skills are inadequate for academic success. They "hear" but do not attend to the precise details of pronunciation, verbal instructions, and discussion. For these students, the rhythmic patterns of Bal-A-Vis-X create a new awareness of the nuances of sound.

Stacee Sanders-

Fruitland Elementary First Grade Teacher and a Bal-A-Vis-X National Trainer

Stacee has been teaching at Fruitland Elementary for 22 years. She has been involved in Bal-A-Vis-X for the last 12 years and is a national trainer. She was trained by the "creator" of BAVX, Bill Hubert, over the course of 12 plus years. Stacee has travel to the BAVX headquarters in Kansas three times and has traveled with Mr. Hubert across the United States training hundreds of educators, counselors, therapists, and prison administrators. Both of her daughters have attended and helped facilitate many trainings and are National Junior Trainers. Fruitland Elementary has been fortunate enough to have an afterschool program that focuses solely on BASX for the last three years. This afterschool program is led by Stacee Sanders, Leslie Ward, and Heather Beutler.

"I have seen Bal-A-Vis-X assist people who struggle with academics, ADHD, focus anxiety, tracking, trauma, and PTSD. It helps create a total mind-body experience where both side of the brain are functioning together to help the individual function at their best."
